Derek Sobel has over a decade of experience in financial reporting, corporate modeling and financial audits, providing CFO services for public and private working with public companies in the technology, mining, construction, not-for-profit, tourism, and service industries.

Since joining Catapult in 2019, Derek has been instrumental in the growth of numerous companies by building out robust financial reporting processes, implementing internal controls, developing internal budgeting and forecasting models that are relied on by management teams for decision making, and streamlining day-to-day accounting processes. 

Previous to joining Catapult, Derek worked at a fast-growing software company as the corporate controller where he oversaw all finance and accounting aspects of the company. Derek also previously worked in public practice in Calgary, where he provided full scale assurance and tax services. In his spare time, you can often find him on the golf course or up in the mountains on the ski slopes. 

Derek holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA)
