The Situation

The Company, which was previously a small junior mining company with minimal activity, made the decision to pursue a significant downstream development project in Europe, as well as advance their exploration project in Canada
They had not previously employed any accountants

They needed to raise a significant amount of funds for these projects
The Company needed experienced professionals with the expertise to build out a financial reporting process and internal processes and controls to help manage a significant amount of growth with projects in multiple countries

The How

Catapult was engaged to take over all of the financial reporting and accounting functions of the Company

In a short period of time, Catapult performed an assessment of the gaps and areas of need within the organization, and proposed solutions for how those gaps could be filled

The team at Catapult leveraged it’s combined decades of experience to build out a robust consolidation and financial reporting process, working with management and auditors to revamp the external reporting documents to suit the needs of stakeholders as the Company grew and raised funds

Catapult also implemented internal controls throughout the organization, developed internal budgeting and forecasting models that are relied on by management for decision making, and streamlined the day-to-day bookkeeping and AP processes

Catapult was able to continue to fill in the gaps at each stage of growth and support the Company as it grew and evolved from a relatively small inactive company to a $250m+ market cap company with significant activity across multiple continents

The Company was able to leverage the financial reporting expertise provided by Catapult to help raise $100m+ in a 1.5 year period after engaging Catapult.
The Company grew from 5 employees to approximately 50 employees during this period, with continual increased involvement from Catapult along the way to support the growth.
The Company’s projects have advanced significantly with continued support from Catapult’s financial reporting, forecasting, and controlling activities.
The Company continues to engage Catapult as it looks to raise significant additional funds and continue to push the projects to the next stage.
